Senate Bill 75, Public Act 101-0221 was signed into law by Governor Pritzker in August 2019. Under this Act, Illinois employers are required to train employees on sexual harassment prevention by December 31, 2020, and on an annual basis thereafter. Employers must either develop their own sexual harassment prevention training program that equals or exceeds the minimum standards for sexual harassment prevention training outlined in Section 2-109(B) of the Illinois Human Rights Act, or they may use the model training provided by the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR).
The ERS and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) produced a free online Illinois compliant Sexual Harassment Training video for PCA contractors and their employees on its new work-life website. Please note, you can create your own company code or use our PCA's access code: pcaeap. You and your employees will also need to create your own individual new profile including a username and unique password. Once activated, scroll down to the “Soft Skill Courses” at the bottom of the screen. From there, scroll down to "required training courses" to access the Illinois Sexual Harassment Training course, which includes a quiz and certificate of completion at the end. This ERS training will fulfill the requirement that all Illinois employers must train their employees on sexual harassment prevention by December 31, 2020, and on an annual basis thereafter.
The Construction Education Insititute (CEI) has produced a free 15-minute online Illinois compliant sexual harassment training module available to all PCA contractors (paid for through our Industry Fund). PCA contractors can have all of their employees watch the presentation and receive a certificate of completion. Each employee will need to individually register on the CEI site and download the module to obtain their own certificate. Click here for detailed login instructions. Once your employees have gained a login registration ID and password, they can then access the course by clicking here. This CEI training will fulfill the requirement that all Illinois employers must train their employees on sexual harassment prevention by December 31, 2020, and on an annual basis thereafter.
Please note: PCA contractors can also use the current model training provided (at no cost) by the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) by clicking here.
